Become
a Mentor
For Someone with a
Developmental Disability
Share
your Talent, Build a Friendship
Where
do you find fulfillment? Art, animals and nature, music,
theater, handcrafts, sports—whatever drives your
zest for living is something you could share with someone
who needs your knowledge and enthusiasm to grow in both
experience and spirit.
We are seeking people with specialized
interests who would like to nurture someone with a mutual
interest who may lack formal training and may be socially
isolated.
Each
mentoring relationship will be individually designed,
based on shared interests and potential compatibility.
Mentors will meet with an Arc-supported adult from one
to four times a month, and mentoring relationships will
run from six months to a year, with an option to renew.
The Arc of Baltimore will train, monitor, and guide you
throughout the mentorship.
If you wish to provide companionship to a person with
a developmental disability and to offer them a chance
to explore the deeply felt interest you share, you will
cultivate inner joy in another, develop a friendship,
and bring someone into a circle of others.
The
Arc of Baltimore connects people with developmental disabilities
and the community in order to benefit those individuals,
their families, and the community at large. Active since
1949, The Arc of Baltimore is one of the nation’s
largest and most respected organizations of its kind,
reaching more than 3,000 residents of Baltimore City and
County.
