News Coverage Shows Impact of State Funding Cuts
Image: Schmitt Family

A recent news story on WBFF-Fox 45 gives a personal view of what State funding cuts mean for families. The Schmitt family, who is featured, lives in Baltimore County and has received assistance from The Arc of Baltimore over the years. Many of our families need Respite Funds, but this took a cut 50% in the State budget. State Respite grant allowed us help families bring in a care provider, sometimes for a few hours, sometimes even for a few days so that parents can take care of other children’s needs, their own health care, or other obligations. The cut forced the Arc to stop accepting any new requests for respite. The Arc is seeking contributions and private grants to continue respite assistance. Click here to see the story.
