Right now, children throughout the Baltimore
area are waiting for foster care services. They are infants,
children, teenagers and
young adults. Each has a special
challenge to face – a physical, mental or emotional
disability or a chronic medical condition. And while each
child presents a special set of challenges, they all share
the need to be part
of a loving family – a family
willing to provide a safe and nurturing environment in
which these children can grow to reach their full potential.
A Partnership of Caring
The Arc of Baltimore works in full partnership
with foster parents – caring people who have opened
their hearts, minds and homes to children in crisis. Working
closely with The Arc of Baltimore’s professional
staff of social workers, foster families create a supportive,
safe and loving family environment for the child. In this
therapeutic setting, children have the opportunity to
learn the skills and behaviors they need to grow into
adults capable of leading full, satisfying and successful
lives.

Why Choose The Arc of Baltimore:
Anyone who has known a foster parent will
tell you the work is demanding and the rewards are great.
The ultimate reward is the satisfaction of knowing you

foster parents:
- Financial compensation. Our foster
parents receive a tax-free stipend, to compensate foster
parents and to pay for the child’s room, board
and other expenses.
- Specialized training. The Arc of Baltimore’s
professionals provide foster parents with extensive
training on caring for the child’s disabilities.
The Arc of Baltimore also provides continuing education
programs specifically tailored to foster parents.

time off with pay from daily foster care responsibilities.
While intensive support, training and
consultation are provided by The Arc of Baltimore
